Baltimore County Seeks Public Input on Bike & Pedestrian Improvements

A plan to improve bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Baltimore County is being developed, and officials are seeking public input.

To identify policy and physical barriers to complete streets, access to all types of users, and experiences with public transportation, county officials are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying other areas for improvement.

Feedback from residents can be provided in three ways: through an online survey, an online interactive mapping tool, or by writing a letter. Responses will be accepted for all three methods through November 14.

County officials will gather ideas from residents and use them to develop recommendations for Baltimore County’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, which will be released later this year. A draft report will be released in early 2022, with the final version in 2023.

Improvements in bicycling and walking in the region will contribute to the local economy, promote active lifestyles, and grow regional tourism, said D’Andrea Walker, Acting Director of Public Works and Transportation, in a statement. The community’s involvement is welcomed, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to plan for the future of our country’s transportation infrastructure.

The new master plan will be a long-awaited update to Baltimore County’s current Eastern and Western Pedestrian and Bicycle Access Plans, which were adopted by the Baltimore County Council in 2006 and 2012, respectively, and have been in the works for years.
